P&O's Oriana can boast as having some of the most amazing West End and Broadway shows during every cruise. We were asked to board the Oriana when it was in dry dock to commission the lighting using ShowCAD Artist. The extensive list of shows, required us to provide an huge library of lighting scenes to be recalled, this also meant that we needed to teach the lighting crew the system as well as produce the shows. We started to time-code the lighting to the orchestra's click track so as to automate and provide precision cued lighting fit for the show. We studied photo's and video's from the original shows back in the West End and Broadway to simulate their authenticity. The Oriana has three main show rooms, the Theatre Royal, The Pacific Lounge and Harlequins. The challenge was to produce lighting for the shows with 3 very different room and lighting layouts, a challenging but enjoyable project.
